Route description

Step by step

  1. 1

    Cwm Gwdi Car Park

    Begin at the small car park overlooking the Usk Valley. Follow the clear path south along the old military road.

    Gradual Ridge Climb

    The path rises steadily, offering early views of Cribyn and the sweeping northern escarpment.

  3. 3

    The Final Pull

    As you approach the ridge, the path steepens. Continue upward until you reach the broad saddle between Cribyn and Pen y Fan.

  4. 4

    Pen y Fan Summit (886m)

    Turn right for the final climb to the summit. The top offers panoramic views across the Central Beacons, the Usk Valley, and the Carmarthen Fans.

  5. 5

    Return

    Retrace your steps back to Cwm Gwdi, enjoying the long, scenic descent.
