A Victorian estate turned country park

Craig-y-Nos Country Park is a 40-acre Victorian estate once owned by the world-famous opera singer Adelina Patti. Today it's a peaceful haven of lakes, riverside paths, meadows, and ornamental gardens. The walk is perfect for families, dog walkers, and visitors looking for a relaxing, low-effort route with plenty to explore.

Route description

Step by step

  1. 1

    Country Park Entrance

    Begin at the main car park and follow the path toward the visitor centre and café. The park opens out into lawns, mature trees, and views of the surrounding cliffs.

  2. 2

    Upper Lake Loop

    Head toward the Upper Lake, home to ducks, swans, and reflections of the woodland. Follow the circular path around the water, taking in the ornamental bridges and quiet seating areas.

  3. 3

    Woodland & Riverside Section

    Continue south along the River Tawe, where the path becomes more shaded and peaceful. This section is rich in birdsong and wildlife.

  4. 4

    Meadows & Open Parkland

    Loop back through the meadows, with views of Adelina Patti's Castle (Craig-y-Nos Castle) rising above the trees.

  5. 5

    Return to the Car Park

    Follow the wide gravel path back toward the visitor centre to complete the walk.
