A long, spectacular mountain loop linking the major summits of the Central Beacons. A challenging, full-day adventure for experienced walkers who want to take in the very best of the Brecon Beacons in one continuous ridge route.
The Beacons Circuit is a demanding but unforgettable walk that includes Corn Du, Pen y Fan, Cribyn, Fan y Big, and the long return via the historic Roman Road. With steep climbs, dramatic ridges, and huge views, this is one of the most rewarding big-mountain days in Wales.
Begin at the National Trust car park and cross the footbridge. Follow the pitched path toward Corn Du.
A steep climb leads to the broad summit plateau with dramatic views into Cwm Llwch.
Continue along the ridge to the highest point in South Wales. A perfect place for a break and photos.
Descend steeply to the saddle, then climb the sharp, rewarding ascent to Cribyn. The view back to Pen y Fan is one of the best in the National Park.
Follow the ridge east to Fan y Big, home of the famous Diving Board rock ledge.
Descend to the old Roman Road and follow the long, easy track south before looping back toward Pont ar Daf.
